11. Carlsbad Caverns National Park is a United States National Park in the Guadalupe Mountains, approximately 18 miles (29 km) southwest of Carlsbad, New Mexico. The main attraction for most visitors is the show cave, Carlsbad Caverns. To get into the cave, visitors can hike in on their own through the natural entrance, or take the elevator directly to the Underground Lunchroom, which is about 230 meters below.

Carlsbad Caverns represents a large number of chambers “decorated” with beautiful formations, resulted after a long period of geological activity. Every each of them has its unique shape and the most famous chamber is called the Big Room, a natural limestone chamber which is almost about 1,219 m long, 190.5 m wide and about 107 m high at the highest point. It is the third largest chamber in North America and the seventh largest in the world.

12. Channel Islands National Park consists of five breathtaking islands (Anacapa, Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, San Miguel, and Santa Barbara), each one “hosting” incommensurable natural and cultural resources. This national park is a wonderful family getaway, a place for exploration and rediscovering. If you have a few hours to spare, you can get on a boat tour to Santa Cruz Islands or Anacapa via Island Packers. Whale Watch trips are being organized from December through April at Ventura, Oxnard and Santa Barbara Harbors. You can get more information from here.

Now that is the kind of place where i can put my tent and sleep without having to worry about wild animals, bears, wolfs etc. Or… wait… those birds there… they are not dangerous, are they? And sharks can climb on that rock…

With your experience, any shark that will bother you will probably turn into a passionate hiker after a long chat :) so there are no worries.
