Every year, more than 15 million people camp in Great Britain. It is an inexpensive way to experience the country and the incredible scenery and wildlife. If you still want a little luxury though, then there are some incredible log cabins available, where you can experience all the benefits of camping, but with a unique sophistication. They come in the form of treehouses, floating pods and even sculpted into the shape of conkers – the seed of the Horse Chestnut tree.
#Secret Water – Suffolk
What’s better than a log cabin stay out in the wilds? A floating log cabin! At Secret Water in Beccles, Suffolk, you can stay in the only floating cabins in Great Britain. The pods obviously come with complimentary use of a rowing boat to get to and from land.
The pods (you can also call them glamping venues) are perfect for a unique, romantic mini-break, or an unusual family weekend, as many of the cabins sleep up to four people. They are equipped with a small kitchenette if you want to self cater – you can sit out on the decking area and enjoy a simple meal and a bottle of sparkling Suffolk wine, as the sun goes down over the water.
#Red Kite Conkers – Powys
Red Kite Conkers in Newbridge-On-Wye, Wales are proof of how the natural materials of modular log homes can still be warm and comfortable. The cabins are wonderfully shaped like conkers, from the Horse Chestnut tree. They are situated in an area of private woodland, surrounded by rolling hills.
The Conkers sleep 2 people, in luxury glamping accommodation that includes a fire pit, bathroom, outside cooking area and terrace. They have a completely sustainable heating system, so you can keep cool in summer and wonderfully warm in winter. The lack of phone signal makes the Conkers perfect for a romantic trip away. The interior of the conquers are surprisingly bright and modern. The cabins are equipped with luxury mattresses, so you are guaranteed a great night’s sleep.
#The Danish Cabin – Cornwall
The Danish Cabin is situated at Trebarwith Strand in Cornwall. There is a nearby beach, however it is only present at low tide. This luxurious, 6-berth, sustainable log cabin is built on stilts above the forest. It has an ingenious layout, where you can slide back different walls to give you some incredible views of the area – perfect for wildlife spotting.
The cabins are completely off-grid and phone signal is very limited. There is a composting toilet near the cabin, and you can have a shower at the main reception block. If you want to have a barbecue with family and friends, you can cook outside on the fire pit that is provided, and enjoy a meal out on the decking. There is also an on-site kitchen where you can order in breakfast if you fancy a leisurely morning breakfast.
If you want to experience camping, but in comfort then a log cabin break is a good option. Enjoy getting back to a simpler life and the peace of nature.
