Auroville-The City of Hope

By Tudor

Existing in a community where everyone is different, where the nationality is not a measurable scale for splitting people by their skin or language, a place where “my values and goods are also yours” its apparently an utopic imagine in these days. Why did I use “hope”? Cause we need an optimistic point of view for our own perspectives and for the future communities.

“Auroville wants to be an universal town where men and women of all countries are able to live in peace and progressive harmony above all creeds, all politics and all nationalities. The purpose of Auroville is to realise human unity.” says one of their fundamental declarations of principles.

The city is located in Viluppuram district in the state of Tamil Nadu, south India and it was founded  in 1968 by Mirra Richard (”[The] Mother”) and designed by architect Roger Anger.

Hey, we have that here in Romania too… its called Bucharest! Its a city where all kind of different people, from all over the world, with different political or religious views, try to live together as a big comunity… Unfortunetly, they usually fail, somewhere between envying the person next to you and stabing them in the back to get his place :) )

Who am i kidding, its a nice town. To bad its not more like this one you are showing here. If more towns were like that, maybe it would make a better world in the end… at least until people with white socks and black shoes will come visit and start trowing garbage everywhere…

    Hello, Ioan!

Sadly, the contemporary consciousness acts like an umbrella in the rain, no one else is allowed under “my” space, my air. Well, in this experimental city things are opposite to what we all experienced. They are giving us a choice for a better inside and outside world… And I won`t take the chance to speak about Bucharest.:P
