Pamukkale is an amazing display of natural hot water pools  in Denizli Province, south-western Turkey. What you see in the photos below are known as travertines or the terraces that form due to the carbonate minerals that gather up as the flowing water circles. Pamukkale is actually Turkish for “cotton castle”, a name that we think manages to characterize the true inner “fluffiness” of this place.

Pamukkale Hot Springs can be visited all year long, but it is absolutely spectacular in the winter time, when natural pools of hot water form and tourists can take long, soothing baths.

Getting there is possible by taking a plane or a bus to the city of Denizli – Cardak Airport. From here on a bus to Pamukkale is available (20 km). Remember to take a bag for your shoes and bring along some slippers for visiting the travertines. And your bathing suit. Accommodation will not be an issue, as you will find that the area is highly developed in matters of tourism. In fact it is too developed, although in the winter time you might just get a little privacy.
