Portofino is a small Italian fishing village and tourist resort at the Mediterranean Sea, located in the province of Genoa on the Italian Riviera. It is said that Portofino was founded by the Romans who first named the place “Portus Delphini” (“Port of the Dolphin”), because of the dolphins that inhabited the area.

With its romantic and unique design, Portofino has become a perfect place for an unforgettable vacation. Since the 50’s, because of  the village’s incredible attraction, tourism had supplanted fishing as the town’s chief industry, and the waterfront was a continuous ring of restaurants and cafés. What to experience

There is a wide choice of restaurants whose specialty is fish, in particular scampi, prawns and lobster. All of the restaurants offer a wide selection of wines, particularly red and white which you can drink seated a few meters from the sea.

If you want to admire the surroundings, there are many trails and passes, some of them very close to the sea level. If you will reach to the green gardens of the Lighthouse of Portofino where you will find the flavour of ancient times, you will have the chance to see dolphins, starfish and lots of other species which are protected in this area of the Mediterranean.

Not to mention that there are many ways to have fun, whether it is sailing, scuba diving, swimming or fishing.
