Leicester_SquareCentered around a small park, Leicester Square is an open invite for visitors to relax, take a long walk and …see a fine movie. This is a place to visit during upsetting showers or when in need of some holiday drama. Currently known as the core of the West End entertainment district, Leicester square has a rich history behind, and some lovely heritage buildings (unfortunately “haunted” by large movie businesses). Moreover, it is home to the largest worldwide film premiers and co-hosts of the London Film Festival.

An imposing black polished granite facade seems to dominate the square; the Odeon Leicester Square cinema with its 120 feet (37 m) high tower is the largest single-screen cinema in the United Kingdom, having no less than 1683 seats! (there were initially 2000 total seats, but apparently people complained about not having enough room for legs and action was taken). Other film venues include Empire (with 1,330 seats in the main screen), Odeon West End and Vue West End (hosting the Warner Bros. film premieres).
