Starlight Room is one of the nicest surprises this year regarding unconventional accommodation in the mountains.

This tiny cabin is located in the stunning Dolomite mountains in northern Italy. Set at an altitude of 2,055 meters, it features glass walls and a transparent ceiling built on a wood structure. The cabin sits at Col Gallina, twenty kilometers away from the famous winter sports playground of Cortina d’Ampezzo.

This “Starlight Room” is a dream sleigh designed by Raniero Campigotto that nestles a double bed and lots of nature thrills. Being positioned at the edge of a hill, the cabin opens to the mountainous setting and provides a panoramic perspective of the clear night sky.

At sunset, guests can witness the ‘enrosadira’, the time when the Dolomites embrace various shades of red. The night also prepares an unforgettable symphony of lights, as the Milky Way covers the exposed room with unsettled stars.

The cabin can be reached by snowmobile from Rifugio Col Gallina. You can also climb your own using snowshoeing or a fatbike (an off-road bicycle with over-sized tires).

The Starlight Room Dolomites can be booked for one or two persons, at the cost of 300 euros per night (dinner and breakfast included).
